here are the places that we are posting the announcement so far:
-borg2 bullhorn
(i am going to e-mail frank and see if he'll do a special announcement since DDI are the poster children for borg2 grants)
-jackrabbit speaks
-squidlist
-3playa
-gigdirectory.net

i am also posting to several e-mail lists and various tribes such as SF burner events, the treehouse, etc.

we could use help with the following:
**please note - we have different text for posting in different places depending on how "public" the listing is. for instance, the JRS post does not mention the bar or the address. posts to private or small tribes and small community e-mail lists can show the address & bar info. i will post the different versions here.

-anyone on the burning man e-playa who could post there?

-i e-mailed a friend who's on myspace to see if he can post to the burning man groups there. anyone here on myspace or any of the other community websites who can post in appropriate places?

-matt has flyers you can take to whatever parties you're going to this weekend.

-please post in whatever tribes/e-mail lists you feel appropriate and send the announcement to all your friends.

-any other ideas???

it would be really great if we could fill the place up (250-300 people). more money & more fun. weeeee!!

PRIVATE ANNOUNCMENT (use this one for small lists, private or small tribes, your friends, etc.)

Interpretive Arson and the Cracktory present:
      TASTEE FLAME!
A Fundraiser for Dance Dance Immolation

      **Saturday, June 4th at 9pm**
      $10-$20 sliding scale

We are going to shoot people, and by people we mean you, with flamethrowers. Really. The kind that are on fire.

Dance Dance Immolation is like Dance Dance Revolution (the video game
where you dance on the pads), but with fire! Put on a fireproof suit and
play a few rounds. Scoring well wins you acclaim from flame cannons, scoring poorly wins you a propane blast in the face! We promise not to burninate you... too much...

Come support our crazy pyro dream, and enjoy fire-spewing cake!
Burn-your-own creme brulee! Plenty of tasty pyro desserts and snacks!
Flambe bar, including the complete Flaming Larry experience!

Two rooms of music: downtempo for flaming cocktails, and techno/breaks for
flaming booties. Djs Mermaid, Jovino, Pyrokitten, and more!

We'll also raffle off a flamethrower, because we like fire SO MUCH. Fire Makes Everything Better.

The Cracktory is located at the corner of Custer and Rankin in Hunters Point, San Francisco. For directions and more information: www.interpretivearson.com

I'd also recommend posting in the SFBay Burners tribe and various fire/poi tribes which I am not in

I'll cover the poi tribes. Maybe not every single one, since there's a LOT of overlap. Also SF Bay Burner EVENTS, it's been posted there already but I'll bump it.

I posted a tribe listing today, and it went to all the fire/pyro tribes I'm on. You might be on some that I'm not, though.

for individual tribes i think it's best to post the announcement in an actual thread. it's kind of a pain with all the cutting and pasting but they get *a lot* more attention than the event listings stuck at the bottom of the page where no one sees them.

Anyone going to the tribe happy hour tonight? I'm going and could pass out a few flyers, but I don't have any.

Can't do it, but thanks for the offer. I'll stealthily print out a few sheets to pass out for tonight. I don't know if this thing will be a big production or not.

interesting advice from my friend hernan who organizes popcorn theater and naughty santa's black market. dunno if it applies for us with so little time, but if anyone's in town and feels like doing "promotional theater" this weekend, it could be fun. too bad you can't shoot off flame throwers in most places though.

i'll try to hand out some flyers on our camping trip this weekend.

"But nothing compares to a street team with flyers in hand, going to every event between now and the BIG EVENT. If the event warrants it you can make big posters and stick them up at each show.

My new thing is to make a "promotional theater". Meaning you do something that makes you stand out in a crowd as you flyer that crowd. So, for instance you get one of my stilting friends to walk around with you as you flyer the populace. Of course, the "Promotional Theater" should be thematically linked to the event you are promoting. Meaning If it is a circus event you may send out clowns. But clowns wouldnt work so well for a formal attire event."

Yup -- this is what I did at Critical Mass last Friday. I wore my spiffy purple coat and rode around flyering people. I concentrated on the ones with good costumes.

I found the line "Do you want to come to a party with lots of fire and good food?" to be quite effective.

Ian and I tried to hit the Golden Gate Park fire jam last night shortly after 10:00 PM but couldn't find it. Perhaps it was already over, perhaps it got busted.

At least one of us will be flyering at Spin Jam tomorrow night.

I am going to flyer my Circus School peeps when I go to class tonight.

Jeff from SF horror/Indie Fest wanted to know if he should publicize the fundraiser as an "afterparty" for the horrorfest. This tends to draw 20+ extra people who wander over after the films. I told him to go ahead and do this but I'm not sure if this is a great idea. The croud tends to be hipster types. Any opinions?
