Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Wed, May 25, 2005 - 12:18 PMI'll start:
We need at least several large-ish tables for the bars, raffle items, food, and so on. I've got one 3x6 foot plastic top folding table.
Around 3 dozen shot glasses. Sounds like PlatypusMan might have a lead on those. Cheaper is better, of course.
Decorations: For one, we'll need volunteers to help put them up. But what we're really still trying to figure out is what we should decorate with. Does anyone have a stash of decorating supplies they could lend us to help deck out the place? Any ideas for simple things we could do to help add to the atmosphere? We're going for "pyromaniac cocktail-party-esque" in the main room.
More to follow. Any advice or contributions welcome! -

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Wed, May 25, 2005 - 12:43 PMI'll bring 4-dozen shot-like glasses of multiple colors. They will be thick and not easy to break so hopefully I can get most of them back at the end of the party, otherwise, they can be souvenirs.
It does not sound like crepe paper streamers or balloons would be a very good idea for decorations. Perhaps we could get some rolls of silver and gold metallic streamers to hang around.
Wasn't someone organizing some black-lights? -

Great, thanks!
>Wasn't someone organizing some black-lights?
Yes, though I don't have the specifics. We've got some decorations, just not enough; I think the non-lighting stuff is where we really need help.
Streamers sound like a good idea. Perhaps we should make some out of caution tape, too! -

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Wed, May 25, 2005 - 4:25 PMI have a couple decent tables you could you, and they're already at the Cracktory.
I also have a bunch of black drop-cloths that we use to cover the less attractive parts of the warehouse. We have tons of lights, but other than that not to much else. -
-
Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Wed, May 25, 2005 - 10:47 PMi can get the black lights from my friend iain (different one) next week. and there are already some cool lights there. -

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Wed, May 25, 2005 - 11:10 PMI got a long table with folding legs you can borrow... but sounds like you already got that covered. I got a 50 foot string of construction lights, the kind that uses full size light bulbs.
I got a cocktail shaker i don't mind losing. I can donate some 151 for flaming cocktails. I probably have some stuff to donate to the raffle as well. -

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 12:11 AMWe seem to be doing OK for tables, but if it's not too much of a problem to bring it I'd rather have too many tables than too few. We're set for lights. Decoration-wise I think we're going to rely on lights more than actually dressing the place up- it's got enough character on its own that between lighting and covering/cleaning up the workspaces we should be fine. We've got so much else to work on! -

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 12:18 AMWe'd like to find something like a 4-6 tiki torches to light the space near the entrance, rather than having the strong overhead light turned on. We can buy them used pretty easily, but borrowing would be better! -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 8:57 AMI'll take a look at what shape my burning man tiki torches are in.
Also Alleycat has my cocktail shaker at the moment - tell her I said it's okay to give it to you guys.
Oh, and I think I can kick in for a bottle of 151 too. -

That sounds rather noncommittal....yes, we'd like your table, Marc, and thanks! How big is it? -

It's the long cafeteria style... I'd have to take a look at it again but I'd say at least 6 feet maybe 8 ??? I got a truck so getting it there is no prob.

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 10:32 AMI'm glad people have offered cocktail shakers. That was going to be on my bar checklist. We will need at least two, and preferably three. -

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 12:40 PMI know you are doing OK on tables, but I just realized I have a couple tables that used to
be the long type that we sliced in half and made twice as many short ones.
Give a shout if you think you need some of the short ones.
I think they are like 2.5ft x 4ft.

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 12:17 PMI posted it over there, but I'll post it here too
You guys wanna borrow my jacob's ladder? Some of you got to play with it over at the R the other night.
I'm adding some protective stuff at the moment, but should have it done in time. -
-
Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 12:25 PMSure! The jacob's ladder for the cake has to be custom-built (we already have a transformer) but I think it will only operate when we light up the cake. Having another one around for people to enjoy would be great. -

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Thu, May 26, 2005 - 5:09 PMSomething else we'll need, just for the night, which I'm sure plenty of you have:
FRS/GMRS radios. We want the bar & door people to be in contact in case the popo shows up.
I have 1, I think Ian has 1... we probably need 3 or 4 more. -

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Mon, May 30, 2005 - 2:30 AMI have two, plus one that I found in my burning man stuff that doesn't belong to me. I think it might be Colin's... -
-
Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Mon, May 30, 2005 - 12:10 PMIt's either Colin's or Corinne's. Bring it to the party and we can find out :)

Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Wed, June 1, 2005 - 3:40 PMI'm gonna do flaming coffee. Anyone got a coffee maker? Just a regular kitchen deal -- I don't own one so I need to find one.
Morley -- can we add a bottle of vodka and a bottle of Kahlua to the bar shopping list? -
-
Re: Fundraiser party wishlist
Wed, June 1, 2005 - 9:31 PMyou can use mine. it's a standard size so it doesn't make huge amounts of coffee. promise you'll take care of it and i'm happy to let you use it.
you might want to call me to remind me to bring it though, or have matt bring it. -
