Hey guys, I think we should start a signup for bartending and door. I'm thinking 2 hour shifts will be easy to keep track of. (If you want to limit the length, please say so! I'm just guessing..)

So...

BARTENDING - 4 PEOPLE PER SHIFT (2 people per bar, 2 bars)

9pm - 11pm:
11pm - 1am:
1am - 3am:
3am - 5am (one bar only):

DOOR - 2 PEOPLE PER SHIFT

9pm - 11pm
11pm - 1am
1am - 3am

I don't think we need to keep the door open past 3am. In fact, should we close it earlier..?

Note: Tracey wants to both DJ *and* bartend/door.. she should have first crack at shifts once we set the DJ lineup. We're working on that and should have the music schedule ironed out soon.

  • I'm nominating myself and R-Pod for bartending duty 9-11.

Morley, if you need help organizing and stocking the bar, give me a shout. I can use my former bar "manager" skills to do that. I was sorely disappointed in the lack of offerings at the last BORG2 party.
    • I also have a friend with Restaurant Depot Access (which happens to be 3 blocks from the Cracktory). If you give me enough warning and a shopping list I can probably convince him to get a bunch of stuff cheap.

I plan on working security until around 2am, which is generally when I feel we're out of the dark as far as cops go.
    • Stocking the bar would be most helpful. We are clueless in that department - we're not really the boozing types. :P

Our vague ideas include some cheapish beer (maybe $2 a cup?) and some flaming drinks (more like $4 or $5 each, more exciting, more special). Also potentially the full "flaming larry experience" - get in a proximity suit, hold your drink, and get blasted with a flamethrower. This would, of course, take place somewhere a bit more safe :)
      • I'm actually all for blasting with a flamethrower. It's more a matter of making sure the person who's using the flamethrower doesn't point it somewhere bad (ie: the used oil barrels).

Let me talk to Kit (my friend) and see what he would suggest to stock a bar with for a party like this. He does this kind of thing professionally, after all. I warn you however, a well stocked bar for an event of this size is gonna run $500+. It's a good money maker though, so it's worth it.
        • Kevin, if you're friend is experienced in this area, and has the discount access, I'll step aside on the stocking, etc. I think one type of flaming drink and then a regular vodka with mixers would satisfy most people as long as beer is available.

I disagree with the cans idea. It makes for more waste and requires more storage space, which there isn't a ton of at the Cracktory. Plus, it's better to run out of a keg of good beer than to have tons of crappy beer in cans left over. And ther's less to clean up. The biggest downside to a keg is having someone return it after the party.

And Fiasco at the BORG2 party, Frank went to get 4 gallons of cranberry juice, which we ran out of first.

You actually get a better deal by the keg than by the can.
It costs money to fill those little cans up and they pass the cost on to you.

You are right, keg is the way to go.

The 1 advantage to cans is that you can keep unopened cans till the next event, and with a keg you get nailed on the keg rental if you have it too long.

Size your keg order so you just barely run out at the end and you will be golden.

How to do that I leave to more experienced hands Ive seen posting on here.
